Hi! My name is Shannon Nowlan and I’m from Chicago. I am a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in business management.
On campus I love to be involved with the W&M community in as many ways as I can. I am the committee chair for AMP’s contemporary culture committee which is a fancy way of saying that I plan event centered on contemporary issues on campus (ex: Tarana Burke – founder of the ‘me too.’ Movement, Neil Hilborn – spoken poet & mental health advocate). I am also one of the co-speaker relations chairs for TEDxWilliam&Mary. I am a wellness ambassador on campus and deeply value embracing the eight dimensions to the best of my ability. I am a part of FASA (Filipino American Student Association) and also work in a psychology research lab. During my free time I enjoy playing music (piano/guitar), journaling, or doing anything outdoors (I love hiking).
My greatest value is self-growth. I am constantly striving to grow in all capacities of my life and I embrace change as a welcome instigator of self-growth. The trait I value most in a person is honesty.
A fun fact about me is I have been to 5/7 continents and 17 countries. I love traveling and the top 3 places I’ve ever been to would be 1) New Zealand 2) Botswana and 3) Alaska. The most amazing experience I’ve had would be scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
I look forward to having my perspective and way I view the world challenged this semester!
